Semester and Summer Housing in Bangkok

Participants on the Semester in Thailand and Summer in Asia - Thailand and Cambodia programs will live in single or double rooms in housing shared with other CIS Abroad participants at Bundit House residence.

Standard Housing- Bundit House

The newly constructed Bundit residence is a large, modern facility comprised of several high-rise buildings. Bundit apartments come with many amenities, including an outdoor pool with a large spirit house, exercise gym, restaurant, convenience store, and rooftop terrace. The spacious rooms boast very modern furnishings and flat screen TVs and fridge, but no kitchen. A shuttle service to campus is offered. If you’re looking for a lot of creature comforts, and a more active atmosphere, Bundit is your choice. The apartments are self- catered so students will need to purchase their own meals. Although there are no kitchens in the housing, there are many inexpensive eateries with delicious local food. Bundit is about a five-minute taxi or shuttle ride from Mahidol University, or a 20-25 minute walk.

The road that Bundit is located on has a large number of shops, restaurants, laundry shops, coffee shops, and other conveniences.

Meal Plan

The Thailand meal plan is designed to be affordable and flexible for you so that you can use if where ever you are, which is why we ask you to open a bank account. Most Thai businesses have a QR code which you can scan to pay. This enables us to easily provide you with the meal allowance each month and for you to use it where ever you are in Thailand.

The amount per meal is set to 120 baht. This is designed to cover your meal of Thai food and a drink and should easily cover most meals for you at normal Thai restaurants. Food on campus is even cheaper particularly at the food court in the old building of MUIC. The plan covers 240 meals for your semester.

We will plan to give you cash for the first week to give you time to set up a bank account, once you have that please send it to Ann or David and we can transfer the monthly amount for you. Please keep the payment slips for the food so that we can ensure the budget goes to food and drink only.

Some recommended food options close to Bundit include:

Vet Science Semester Housing

With this being a travelling program, students should be prepared to experience a few different housing locations from an eco-resort to a modest guest house. All rooms will be doubles unless there is an odd number of participants, in which case singles will be rotated amongst the group. Each student will have their own bed, and share a room with someone of the same gender.

Housing in Chiang Mai, where you spend approximately half of the program, has air conditioning and dependable Wi-Fi. Internet connections at other housing may not be dependable or strong enough to use for streaming entertainment, but will provide bandwidth enough for academic research and loading basic web searches. Housing in Chiang Mai will either be at a guesthouse or hotel with breakfast offered on the property, or in a house shared by CIS Abroad students with self-catered breakfast provided for you and included in your tuition.

Housing for Interns in Chiang Mai

Students placed in rural placements, health clinics and some schools, stay in a homestay 5 days a week and travel to the city of Chiang Mai every weekend, staying in the guesthouse. Students choosing placements in the city will stay in a private apartment 7 days a week.

Interns staying in homestays will live with a warm and welcoming Thai family in a private room and can return to Chiang Mai every weekend staying in a guesthouse. This enables interns to meet the other interns, participate in excursions, and better explore the city.

Students choosing apartments will live in double rooms in centrally-located hotel-style apartments. Among the amenities are TV, air conditioning, Wifi, and a small refrigerator. Check out the photo gallery to get an idea of what the apartments are like.

Maintaining a Harmonious Living Environment

When sharing living spaces, it is important to act responsibly and considerately toward your fellow residents. This includes being mindful of noise levels, turning off lights and windows when not in use, and adhering to specific rules outlined in your housing contract.

The goal is to create a safe, comfortable, and healthy living environment for all residents. Rules may vary depending on the program, but these guidelines are in place to ensure that everyone can enjoy their time in the residence hall.

  • Communicate effectively with your roommates and neighbors. Establish ground rules for noise levels and other activities, and work together to create a peaceful and comfortable living space.
  • Show respect to the other occupants in your apartment or residence. Clean up after yourself and ensure your living space is always tidy and organized.
  • Be polite to your neighbors, greet them in the hallways, and avoid disturbing them late at night.
  • Maintain the safety of yourself, your roommates, and your belongings. Be cautious about inviting guests and overnight stays.
  • Take responsibility for your own cooking and cleaning. Wash your dishes daily and keep the bathroom clean. Avoid leaving your personal items in common areas.
  • Keep in mind that you are financially responsible for the condition of the apartment. Additional cleaning may incur charges. Damages to the apartment will be your responsibility to cover.
