Your Global Insurance Plan
In order to ensure your safety abroad, CIS Abroad has included a comprehensive medical insurance package in your program that provides you with medical and accident insurance.
As part of your program fee CIS Abroad has purchased health insurance for you. This is specifically designed for study abroad programs and will cover you for your program and for 30 days after. This insurance is provided by Cultural Insurance Services International CISI, a separate company from CIS Abroad. In general, CIS staff cannot talk to the insurance company for you or advise you about specifics of the insurance policy.
What does it cover?
Your insurance provides accident and sickness insurance, the plan will also cover medical evacuation and repatriation as well as security evacuations should they become necessary. And unlike many domestic insurance plans, the CISI plan will pay 100% of covered expenses without requiring a deductible. The vast majority of medical emergencies will be covered in full by the insurance company.

In most cases you will need to pay out of pocket for your expenses at the hospital or doctor and then submit a claim to the insurance company with your receipts. You can download a form and send it via email claimhelp@mycisi.com or use the CISI Traveller app:

Emergencies or Hospitalization
For bigger emergencies or if you are hospitalized the insurance company can sometimes directly pay the hospital so that you do not need to cover the costs. Be aware however that this can often take quite some time, at least 24 hours but sometimes more.
