The Academic system

Academic institutions function differently from universities in the United States. The specifics vary from one institution to another. You may encounter differences in things like how Add/Drop works, how assignments graded and weighted, how professors interact with students, how placement tests work, how tests are weighted in the final grade, etc.  We've provided information below to help to get students prepare for the different academic experiences they will have on CIS Abroad's programs.

Transcripts

MUIC provides a digital copy and a physical copy of transcripts, which is mailed to CIS Abroad office about 6-9 weeks after your departure. CIS Abroad will then mail it to your US institutions with a table for translations after.

Please note that your transcript won't be released until your CIS Abroad invoice is paid in full.

University of Findlay - Vet Science SemesterUF Logo

For your Vet Science Semester in Thailand program, you will be enrolled in the University of Findlay academic system, and UF will be the one to issue your transcripts at the conclusion of the program.  This means that Findlay documents and awards credit hours to college students participating in the program, who can then transfer the credits to their home university.

The University of Findlay (UF) is a private Christian university in Findlay, Ohio. It was established in 1882, and has a history of academics focusing on animal sciences, equestrian studies, and zoology.

Add / Drops

Courses on the Vet Science Semester in Thailand program are concurrent and build on each other. Given the structure of this program, we do not recommend that students drop coursework. However, if necessary, a student can opt to drop courses before the deadline each term. If a student wishes to withdraw from a course after the add/drop period, no credit will be offered for the course, but it will appear on their transcript as a withdrawal (W).

Transcripts

University of Findlay provides electronic transcripts for this program. These will be available approximately 6-8 weeks after your departure. You will receive an email notification when your transcript record is ready, and can then log onto the University of Findlay system and order a copy to be emailed directly to your home university.

Please note that your transcript won't be released until your CIS Abroad invoice is paid in full.
