When living in a foreign country and an unfamiliar city where you don’t speak the language, having to set up a doctor’s appointment can be frustrating and nerve-wracking. But don’t worry; it’s much easier than you think!
English Speaking Doctors
Bangkok
There are several options depending on severity and personal preference.
MUIC students you can access health care at the Golden Jubilee Medical Center, Mahidol University. This is a government hospital so while it is cheaper, the level of English spoken maybe lower and you may sometimes need to wait. Recommended for simpler issues, between 9am-5pm.
For more serious issues or faster service, Siriraj Piyamaharajkarun Hospital is recommended. This is a private hospital with excellent services and equipment, as well as a good level of English. You do not need an appointment, and is open 9am-5pm every day.
For some of the best care in Bangkok and for all serious accidents, Bangkok Hospital is 24-7 emergency care. A lot of specialists and other doctors are available here. You do not need an appointment.
Chiang Mai
For most issues, Chiang Mai Ram Hospital offers 24-7 emergency care and specialists in most areas 9-5 every day.

Emergency Room - What to expect
Thai private hospitals normally have fast emergency room care. Ask them how long the wait is and if you are looking at waiting more than an hour or so, consider moving to a different hospital. Most hospitals have staff and doctors who speak English. Do not be afraid to ask questions and clarify if you are not clear.
Pharmacies
Many pharmacies can also give you medication and advice over-the-counter. Pharmacists will often speak English and can give you good advice for simple issues, but remember they are not doctors.
